ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how effective pelvic floor muscle training (PFMT) is for helping women in Nepal who experience urinary incontinence, which is when someone has trouble controlling their urine. The trial is looking for women between the ages of 18 and 45 who have moderate to severe urinary incontinence. Participants must be able to speak Nepali and have a phone available. Women who are pregnant, planning to become pregnant soon, or have certain health issues, like a history of certain cancers or severe pelvic problems, are not eligible to join.
If you decide to participate, you'll first learn about urinary incontinence and pelvic floor muscle exercises from a trained physiotherapist. Then, you'll be randomly assigned to one of two groups: one group will only receive education, while the other will get education plus guided pelvic floor exercises for a year. Throughout the study, researchers will check in with you to see how your symptoms improve and to gather feedback about your experience. This trial aims to gather important information that could help develop better treatment guidelines for women in Nepal facing this issue.
