ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, called the Loneliness Group Intervention, is exploring a new way to help older adults in psychiatric care who are feeling lonely. The study is testing a special group therapy program designed to help participants connect with others and improve their emotional well-being. The groups are based on a method called functional analytic psychotherapy and are known as Awareness, Courage, and Love Groups. The researchers want to find out how practical and acceptable this type of support is for patients.
To be eligible for the study, participants need to be admitted to a geriatric psychiatry unit. However, those who are confused, delirious, or unable to participate in the group meaningfully will not be included. If someone joins the study, they can expect to take part in group sessions that focus on sharing experiences and feelings related to loneliness. This research is currently looking for volunteers, and everyone, regardless of gender, is welcome to participate.
