ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying how well the right side of the heart, known as the right ventricle, functions after patients have surgery to fix their mitral valve, especially for those who have high blood pressure in the lungs, called pulmonary hypertension. The researchers will use a special ultrasound test called echocardiography to check the right ventricle's performance three and six months after surgery. They want to see if the surgery improves, worsens, or does not change the heart's function.

To be eligible for this study, patients must have had mitral valve surgery between March 2019 and March 2022 and also have pulmonary hypertension. However, patients who had normal lung pressure, other valve surgeries, or additional heart procedures during the same surgery will not be included. Participants can expect to have their heart monitored at specific intervals after surgery to help understand the effects of mitral valve surgery on heart function. This information could be important for improving treatment options for patients with similar conditions in the future.
