ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the impact of a special follow-up consultation on the quality of life for patients who have spent time in the intensive care unit (ICU) and may be experiencing issues related to "post intensive care syndrome" (PICS). PICS can affect many patients after their ICU stay, causing problems like anxiety, depression, and physical weakness. The researchers want to see if providing an interdisciplinary consultation—where a team of different healthcare professionals meets with the patient—can help improve their well-being.
To join the study, participants need to be at least 18 years old, have spent more than six days in the ICU, and have experienced at least one organ failure during their stay. Those who agree to participate will be randomly assigned to either receive the follow-up consultation a few months after leaving the ICU or to not receive it. All participants will be contacted and asked to fill out surveys about their mental health and quality of life four to five months, and again nine months after discharge. This study aims to provide valuable insights into how best to support patients recovering from their time in intensive care.
