ClinConnect Summary
The PseAn Study is a clinical trial that aims to find out how well a special type of ultrasound, called contrast ultrasound, can detect injuries in the spleen, liver, and kidneys after abdominal trauma. This study is important because it compares the ultrasound results to the standard method of using a CT scan with contrast dye, which is currently the most common way to check for these injuries. Researchers want to see if the ultrasound could eventually replace the CT scan for monitoring patients who have experienced solid organ injuries.
To be eligible for this study, participants must be adults aged 18 and older who have been diagnosed with serious injuries to their spleen, liver, or kidneys due to blunt force or penetrating trauma, as confirmed by a CT scan. Unfortunately, minors (those under 18 years old) cannot participate. If you join the study, you can expect to undergo the contrast ultrasound and possibly have follow-up appointments to monitor your condition. This research is still in the recruiting phase, meaning they are looking for participants to enroll, and it could help improve how doctors follow up on abdominal injuries in the future.
