ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial, titled "Optimization Strategy of Carotid Artery Stenosis," is designed to explore the best ways to diagnose and treat patients with narrowing of the carotid arteries, which can lead to serious health issues like strokes. The researchers are particularly interested in using advanced imaging techniques, such as MRI and CT scans, to get a comprehensive view of the patients' brain health and the nature of the blockages in their arteries. By doing this, they hope to find the most effective strategies for assessing and managing this condition.

To be eligible for this study, participants need to be adults aged 65 to 74 who have been diagnosed with significant narrowing (50% or more) of the carotid arteries and are planning to undergo a specific surgery called carotid endarterectomy at Peking Union Medical College Hospital. If you join the trial, you can expect to undergo imaging tests before and after your surgery, and the research team will collect information about your health, imaging results, and some biological samples for further study. It's important to know that anyone who cannot undergo imaging tests for medical reasons or who does not wish to sign the consent form will not be able to participate.
