ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying the effects of having patients lie on their stomachs (called the prone position) after major abdominal surgery. Researchers want to see if this position helps reduce complications, such as lung infections, in patients who have had surgery for cancers of the esophagus, stomach, or pancreas. The trial will include 200 participants, and those who join will also take part in a program that includes voice and singing exercises to support their recovery.

To be eligible for the trial, patients must be scheduled for surgery to treat one of the specified cancers. Unfortunately, those who cannot understand Swedish or cannot lie on their stomachs before surgery will not be able to participate. If you join this study, you can expect close monitoring during your recovery and the chance to contribute valuable information that may help improve care for future patients.
