ClinConnect Summary
The Healthy Family Foundations clinical trial is studying a new approach to help military families reduce the risk of obesity for both parents and their babies as they transition into parenthood. This program includes 10 online group classes that offer support and guidance before and after the baby is born. Researchers want to see if this family-focused method can help prevent rapid weight gain in infants, help new mothers maintain a healthy weight after giving birth, and support fathers in managing their weight.
To participate, families must be two-parent military households expecting their first child, and one or both parents need to be active duty military. Families will be randomly assigned to either the Healthy Family Foundations program or receive standard care at their site. Throughout the trial, researchers will look at how this program affects weight, support between parents, mental health, and healthy behaviors. If you and your partner are interested in participating, this trial could provide valuable support for your family's health journey.
