ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at a condition called patent ductus arteriosus (PDA), which is a heart issue that can affect premature babies. The researchers want to see if they can use a special tool called near-infrared spectroscopy to measure how well blood is flowing and how much oxygen is getting to the liver in these infants. This information could help doctors understand how serious the PDA is and guide treatment decisions.
To be part of this study, babies must be born before 32 weeks of pregnancy and weigh less than 1,500 grams (about 3.3 pounds). However, babies with major birth defects or genetic conditions are not eligible. If your baby qualifies and participates, they will undergo non-invasive tests to measure liver oxygen levels, helping to improve care for future infants with similar conditions. This research is currently looking for participants, so if you think you might be interested, please talk to your healthcare provider for more information.
