ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new way to help patients with disorders of consciousness (DOC), such as being in a vegetative state or a minimally conscious state, regain awareness. The researchers are exploring a technique called gamma entrainment, which involves using specific sounds and light patterns to stimulate the brain. They want to see if this stimulation can improve brain activity and lead to better recovery in patients. The study has three parts, including observing how patients respond to the stimulation and comparing different methods to find the most effective approach.
To participate in this trial, patients need to be between 16 and 80 years old and have recently been diagnosed with either a vegetative state or a minimally conscious state. They should have been in this condition for more than 28 days. During the trial, participants will receive sound and light stimulation while their brain activity is monitored. The goal is to understand how this treatment might help them become more aware and improve their overall condition. It’s important to note that individuals with certain health issues or previous brain injuries may not be eligible for this study.
