ClinConnect Summary
This study is looking at how firefighters are exposed to harmful substances when they fight structural fires. It will track the levels of these substances in firefighters' bodies by taking urine samples before and after they respond to a fire. The goal is to better understand the effects of these toxicants on firefighters' health.
To participate in this study, you need to be a firefighter—either career or volunteer—and at least 18 years old. You must also be willing to provide urine samples before and after a fire exposure. However, if you currently have cancer or have used tobacco in the past year, you won't be eligible to join. If you decide to participate, you’ll help researchers learn more about the risks firefighters face, which could lead to better safety measures in the future.
