ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a program called Centering Pregnancy, which groups expectant mothers together for prenatal care, and adds support to help them navigate their healthcare. This program aims to reduce the high rates of premature birth and low birth weight among Pacific Islanders, particularly Marshallese women living in the United States. The goal is to see if this approach can help improve attendance at prenatal and postpartum appointments, lower the chances of preterm birth and cesarean deliveries, and increase access to support services.
To participate, women must be 18 years or older, pregnant (about 12-14 weeks along), and self-identify as Marshallese. Those who have had fertility treatments, have high-risk pregnancies, are carrying more than one baby, or are taking certain medications may not be eligible. Participants will be randomly assigned to either the Centering Pregnancy program with care navigation or traditional prenatal care, and the study will track various health outcomes throughout their pregnancy and after birth. This research is important as it seeks to improve the health of mothers and their babies in communities that face significant health challenges.
