ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new scoring system called the TU-GIB Score, which helps doctors quickly identify patients with upper gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding who are at high risk for serious complications. This score is designed to be easy to use and reliable, allowing healthcare providers to make better decisions about treatment. So far, tests have shown that the TU-GIB Score performs better than an existing score (the Glasgow-Blatchford score) in predicting issues like rebleeding and the need for emergency treatments.
To participate in this trial, you must be over 18 years old and have come to the emergency room due to upper GI bleeding that is not caused by an injury. Unfortunately, younger patients, those with lower GI bleeding, or certain other conditions won't be eligible. If you choose to participate, you will help researchers validate this new scoring system in various emergency departments, which could improve care for future patients facing similar issues.
