ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how different types of enteral nutrition (a way of providing food through a tube) impact critically ill patients who have suffered multiple injuries. Specifically, the study compares formulas with very high protein content to those with normal protein levels. Researchers want to find out how well patients can tolerate these formulas, how much energy and protein they receive, and how their body composition changes over time, such as muscle mass and overall health.
To be eligible for this study, participants need to be adults over 18 years old who are admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with serious injuries and require intubation (a tube placed in the throat to help with breathing). Patients who are pregnant or have certain medical conditions, like recent surgery on the stomach or intestines, will not be included. Those who participate can expect to receive specialized nutrition while their progress is monitored, helping doctors understand the best ways to support recovery in critically ill patients.
