ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a condition called neonatal acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) in newborns. The main goal is to find out if certain factors from the time around birth can help predict which babies might develop this serious condition, with the hope of reducing the risk of death associated with it. The researchers will collect samples of umbilical cord blood from participating newborns to analyze these factors, but the babies will not receive any specific treatment as part of this study.
To be eligible for the trial, babies need to be born alive, but those who are stillborn, have certain respiratory conditions, or have specific genetic disorders cannot participate. If you have a newborn who meets these criteria, they may be able to join the study. Parents can expect that their baby's cord blood will be collected shortly after birth for testing, and they will be contributing to important research that could help improve care for future newborns at risk of ARDS.
