ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is focused on creating a new type of garment designed for elderly patients with dementia who experience challenging behaviors and issues with bladder or bowel control. These issues are common among older adults with Alzheimer's disease and can lead to discomfort and frustration for both patients and caregivers. The goal is to develop a garment that not only helps manage these incontinence problems but also respects the dignity of the elderly by looking and feeling like regular clothing.

To participate in this trial, patients need to be staying in a care facility and have specific behavioral and sphincter issues that require the use of this new garment. Unfortunately, those who are in terminal care or do not have family to provide consent cannot join the study. Participants in this trial can expect to wear this specially designed garment during the day, which aims to improve their comfort and dignity while making it easier for caregivers to manage their needs. This project brings together a team of healthcare professionals and engineers to ensure that the garment meets the needs of both patients and caregivers alike.
