ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the relationship between certain blood vessels in the abdomen during surgery for rectal cancer. Specifically, it focuses on measuring the distances between the left colonic artery (LCA) and the inferior mesenteric artery (IMA) and vein (IMV) to help surgeons better preserve the LCA during laparoscopic surgery. This is important because preserving the LCA can lead to better outcomes for patients. The trial will also collect information about the surgery, including how long it takes, how much blood is lost, and the recovery process, to evaluate the effectiveness of this surgical approach.
To participate in the trial, patients need to have a diagnosis of rectal cancer and be eligible for laparoscopic surgery that preserves the LCA. They should be between the ages of 18 and 75 and agree to join the study. However, those with certain medical conditions, previous surgeries in the lower abdomen, or severe mental health issues may not qualify. Participants can expect to undergo the surgery as planned and provide information about their recovery to help improve future treatments for others with rectal cancer.
