ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how brain activity, measured by a test called an electroencephalogram (EEG), relates to a condition called emergence agitation in adults who are having nasal surgery. Emergence agitation is when patients may feel confused, restless, or upset as they wake up from anesthesia. Researchers have found that certain brain wave patterns can change during this time, but they want to learn more about how these changes specifically affect adults compared to children.
To participate in this study, you need to be an adult between the ages of 19 and 55 and scheduled for nasal surgery using general anesthesia. However, if you have certain medical conditions that affect your brain, like dementia or a history of strokes, or if you’ve had general anesthesia in the last six months, you won’t be eligible. If you join the study, you can expect to have your brain activity monitored during and after the surgery to help researchers understand more about how it relates to emergence agitation. Your participation could help improve the way doctors manage recovery for patients undergoing similar procedures in the future.
