ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is comparing two treatment options for people with knee injuries caused by a condition called degenerative meniscus lesions (DMLs), specifically in patients who also have metabolic syndrome (a group of health issues that increases the risk for heart disease and diabetes). The study aims to find out how well physical therapy works compared to a surgical procedure called arthroscopic partial meniscectomy (APM) over a 12-month period.

To be eligible for the trial, participants need to be between 35 and 70 years old and have been diagnosed with both metabolic syndrome and degenerative meniscus lesions. They should also have a history of knee pain and have knee symptoms that can be confirmed by an MRI scan. However, individuals with recent knee injuries, previous knee surgeries, or serious health conditions that affect their ability to participate are not eligible. If you join the trial, you will receive either physical therapy or surgery, and your knee function will be monitored over the next year to see which treatment works better for you.
