ClinConnect Summary
The Eliminating Severe Maternal Morbidity With Heart Health Doulas Trial is a study designed to help women who experience high blood pressure during pregnancy, known as hypertensive disorders. It aims to see if adding support from a specially trained doula, along with regular monitoring of blood pressure and weight, can improve health outcomes after delivery compared to standard care. The study will focus on pregnant or recently postpartum women diagnosed with conditions like pre-eclampsia or gestational hypertension, and it will take place at Magee-Womens Hospital.
To be eligible for this trial, women need to be either pregnant or have recently given birth and diagnosed with a hypertensive disorder during their pregnancy. They must live in certain counties around Allegheny or within 100 miles of it. Participants will be randomly assigned to either continue with usual care or receive additional support and monitoring for six weeks. This trial is currently recruiting participants, and it's a great opportunity for eligible women to receive extra help during a crucial time.
