ClinConnect Summary
The SAFE Spaces trial is a study designed to improve the mental health and safety of young people and staff in certain residential facilities. The trial will test a special training program for staff that focuses on recognizing and preventing suicide, as well as building wellness skills. This program includes in-person training sessions and personalized coaching to help staff better support the mental health needs of the youth they work with. Researchers will compare the experiences and outcomes of staff and youth in facilities that receive this new training with those in facilities that continue with their usual training.
To participate in this study, individuals must be placed in a residential facility that is part of the trial and should be proficient in English. During the study, both staff and youth will fill out surveys about their experiences and mental health. This information will help researchers understand if the new training program makes a positive difference in the safety and wellbeing of everyone involved.
