ClinConnect Summary
This is a prospective, non-random study in the Mississippi Delta to see if a brief counseling chat (about 3–5 minutes) on HPV and the HPV vaccine can influence adults aged 18–35 who have not yet been vaccinated. Researchers want to know if this counseling, along with the option to get the vaccine at no cost, can increase the number of people who get vaccinated within about a year. They are also looking to see if the type of clinic visit (sexual health care vs. general primary care) or the amount of prior information people have affects whether someone eventually chooses vaccination. The study will follow about 100 unvaccinated participants for up to one year and will also gather opinions in group interviews at the end.
Who can join? Adults 18–35 with verified records showing they have not received the HPV vaccine (or have not completed the series) and who are visiting Plan A Health clinics in the rural Mississippi Delta. People are excluded if they have already been vaccinated for HPV, are outside the age range, or if their vaccine records can’t be verified. If someone declines vaccination at their visit, they may receive the short counseling session, and researchers will monitor whether they later decide to get the vaccine. The study is observational and currently enrolling by invitation; results are not yet available.
