ClinConnect Summary
The FAME Study is researching how families can be more involved in the care of their loved ones in the intensive care unit (ICU). Right now, there isn't a reliable way to measure family engagement in these high-stress situations, so the study is developing a new tool called the FAMily Engagement (FAME) instrument. This study aims to understand how family involvement can improve outcomes for patients and to see how different factors, like age and relationship to the patient, may affect family engagement in the ICU.
To participate in this study, you need to be a family member of a patient who is currently in the ICU, be at least 18 years old, and be able to communicate in English or French. If you meet these criteria and are interested, you can expect to share your experiences and thoughts about your involvement in your loved one’s care. This research is important as it aims to improve the support families receive when their loved ones are critically ill, ultimately enhancing the overall care experience in the ICU.
