Mammography Cancer Screening

ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying ways to encourage women in the White Mountain Apache community to get screened for breast cancer through mammograms. The trial involves two groups: one will receive a specially designed education program about mammography, and the other will receive that same education plus support from a women's health coach who can help guide and encourage them through the screening process. The main goal is to see how many women get their mammograms within two months after being referred for one.

To participate in this trial, women need to be American Indian or Alaska Native, live within 60 miles of the Fort Apache Indian Reservation, and have been referred for a mammogram by a healthcare provider. Women who have had a mammogram in the past year or who have a personal history of breast cancer are not eligible. Participants can expect to learn more about the importance of mammograms and receive support to help them through the screening process. This study is important because it aims to create solutions that are culturally relevant and effective in increasing breast cancer screening among women in this community.
