ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at a treatment for a condition called fistula-in-ano, which can occur in infants and children. A fistula-in-ano is an abnormal connection between the anus and the surrounding skin that can cause discomfort and other issues. The researchers want to find out how long a special type of treatment called a non-cutting seton can be safely used in patients with this condition. A non-cutting seton is a type of flexible material that helps keep the fistula open to promote healing.
The trial is open to children and young people aged 0 to 18 years who have been diagnosed with fistula-in-ano and are receiving treatment at this hospital. There are no specific exclusions, so if a child meets the inclusion criteria, they could participate. If enrolled, participants can expect to have regular check-ups to monitor their condition and the effectiveness of the treatment. This study aims to improve understanding of the best practices for managing fistula-in-ano in young patients, which could lead to better care and outcomes for future patients.
