ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying two different ways to connect a machine called veno-arterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VA ECMO) to support patients with severe heart problems, like shock or cardiac arrest. The researchers want to understand how these two methods—central artery cannulation and peripheral artery cannulation—affect blood flow and organ health. By comparing these two approaches, they hope to find out which might be better for patients.
To participate in this trial, individuals must be at least 18 years old and have cardiogenic shock, a serious condition where the heart cannot pump enough blood. Participants should also be able to provide informed consent or have someone to help them with that. However, those with certain serious conditions, like irreversible heart failure or uncontrolled bleeding, cannot take part. If eligible, participants can expect to be assigned to one of the two groups and will be closely monitored throughout the study to gather important information about their health and recovery. The trial is currently recruiting and is open to people of all genders.
