ClinConnect Summary
The GOLF study is a research project looking at how well golfers can return to playing golf after having surgery on their hips, knees, or shoulders. The goal is to understand how many people are able to get back to golf at different points after their surgery, specifically at 6 weeks, 3 months, 6 months, and 12 months. This study is different from past studies because it will follow patients from the time of their surgery onward, giving researchers a clearer picture of the recovery process for golfers.
To participate in the GOLF study, you need to be at least 18 years old, enjoy playing golf, and be planning to have one of several specific types of joint surgeries. You should also be able to provide consent, meaning you understand and agree to participate in the study. If you join, you will receive information about the study before your surgery and will be asked to complete follow-up questionnaires to track your progress. This study will help improve understanding of how joint surgery affects golfers and may lead to better support for those wishing to return to the sport.
