ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying two different methods for closing a surgical wound after an emergency operation for a condition called peritonitis, which is an infection in the abdominal area. The researchers want to see if using a technique called negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) is better at preventing infections compared to the standard method of simply closing the wound with stitches, known as primary closure.

To participate in this study, you need to be between the ages of 65 and 74 and must have been approved for an emergency laparotomy due to peritonitis. If you agree to take part, you will be asked to provide written consent. The trial is currently looking for volunteers, and all genders are welcome to join. Participants will receive either NPWT or primary closure treatment, and the goal is to find out which option helps reduce the risk of surgical site infections after surgery. If you're considering joining, it's a chance to contribute to important research that could help improve care for future patients.
