ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at a type of therapy called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help Black adolescents and young adults deal with stress related to their race. The goal is to see how well this therapy works in a supportive group setting and to make sure it is suitable for young people facing race-related challenges, such as feelings of depression or anxiety. The study will involve about 30 participants who will take part in 10 therapy sessions over the course of a year.
To be eligible to join, participants must identify as Black or African American and be able to speak English. However, the study is not open to those who are in detention centers, are at high risk of harming themselves, or are experiencing severe mental health issues like psychosis. If selected, participants can expect to join a small group where they will learn strategies to cope with race-related stress in a supportive environment. The aim is to improve their overall quality of life and help them manage stress reactions more effectively.
