ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is investigating the use of a combination of dexmedetomidine (a medication that helps with sedation) and a low dose of morphine, compared to the standard dose of morphine, for managing pain in children after surgery. The goal is to see which method provides better pain relief for kids aged 8 to 12 years who are undergoing exploratory surgery under general anesthesia.
To be eligible for the trial, children must be healthy (classified as ASA I or II) and between 8 and 12 years old. They cannot have a history of allergies to either medication, certain mental health issues, or other serious health problems. If chosen to participate, children will receive either the new combination treatment or the standard morphine treatment during their recovery. This research aims to find safer and more effective ways to help manage pain in young patients after surgery.
