Rectus Abdominis Muscle Flap Reconstruction Perineum

ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying a new way to help patients recover after surgery for rectal or anal cancer. Specifically, it looks at using a robot-assisted technique to reconstruct the pelvic area using a flap of muscle from the abdomen. This method aims to improve healing, reduce complications, and enhance sexual health after surgery.

To participate, patients should be between 65 and 74 years old and have been diagnosed with rectal or anal cancer. They must be scheduled for a specific type of surgery called abdominoperineal resection and be suitable for the robot-assisted approach. Participants will be monitored for their recovery, including how well their wounds heal and their overall strength in the abdominal area, as well as their sexual health before and after the procedure. This trial is currently recruiting, and it offers a chance to contribute to important research that may improve future surgical outcomes for similar patients.
