ClinConnect Summary
The CITEMB Study is a clinical trial that is looking at a new screening program for cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection during the first trimester of pregnancy. CMV is a common virus that can sometimes cause health issues for unborn babies, so the goal of this study is to see if screening all pregnant women early in their pregnancy can help identify those at risk and provide better care.
To participate in this study, women need to be at least 16 years old and less than 14 weeks pregnant. If you join the study, you will have a simple blood test to check for CMV. The researchers are currently recruiting participants in Catalonia, Spain, and they want to make sure that you understand everything before you agree to participate. It's important to note that if you have difficulty understanding the information provided or if you're already beyond 14 weeks of pregnancy, you won't be able to join the study. This research could help improve our understanding of CMV and how to support pregnant women and their babies.
