ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking to understand how fat levels in the blood, measured by something called the triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index, are related to heart health in people who are obese. The researchers want to find out how common insulin resistance (a condition where the body doesn’t respond well to insulin) is among obese patients. They will also use heart imaging tests, like echocardiograms and electrocardiograms, to check for any early signs of heart problems in patients who don’t have any symptoms yet. Overall, the goal is to see how heart function is connected to the TyG index and to assess cardiovascular risk in these patients.
To participate in this trial, individuals must be over 18 years old and have been classified as obese for at least two years. They will need to provide written consent. However, those with a history of heart failure, certain heart diseases, or who are taking specific medications that can lead to weight gain will not be eligible. Participants can expect to undergo heart tests and monitoring to help researchers gather important information about heart health in relation to obesity. This study is set to take place from January 2023 to January 2024 and aims to contribute valuable insights into the heart health of obese individuals.
