ClinConnect Summary
The Sleeve-pex trial is a study designed to help understand if a procedure called gastropexy can reduce reflux symptoms in patients who are undergoing sleeve gastrectomy, a type of weight-loss surgery. Reflux is when stomach contents come back up into the esophagus, causing discomfort. In this trial, participants will be divided into two groups: one will have the gastropexy procedure, and the other will not. Researchers will then compare the two groups to see if those who had gastropexy experience fewer reflux symptoms and have less evidence of reflux.
To be eligible for this trial, patients must be planning to have sleeve gastrectomy and be between the ages of 18 and 74. However, individuals under 18, those who have had previous surgery for reflux, or those unable to understand the questionnaires used in the study cannot participate. If you join the trial, you can expect regular check-ins and assessments to monitor your reflux symptoms and overall health. This study is currently recruiting participants and aims to improve outcomes for patients undergoing weight-loss surgery.
