ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how often people with diabetes living in long-term care facilities experience low blood sugar, also known as hypoglycemia. The researchers want to learn how many minutes each day residents spend with blood sugar levels below 70 mg/dl. To do this, they will use a device called a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) on 300 residents for 10 days. This will help them understand the impact of different diabetes medications on blood sugar levels in older adults living in skilled nursing facilities or nursing homes.
To be part of this study, you need to be an adult over 64 years old and have either type 1 or type 2 diabetes. You should be using medication or insulin to manage your blood sugar. However, if you are taking a specific medication called hydroxyurea or if you don’t want to participate, you would not be eligible. Participants will wear the CGM for 10 days, which will help the researchers gather important information about managing diabetes in older adults. This study is currently recruiting participants, so there is an opportunity to contribute to valuable research that could improve care for many people with diabetes.
