ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is looking at ways to help kidney transplant recipients avoid urinary tract infections (UTIs), which are quite common and can lead to serious health issues. The study specifically investigates a technique called "double voiding." This means that after using the bathroom, patients will try to go again shortly after to ensure their bladder is completely empty. By improving how they empty their bladders, the researchers hope to reduce the number of UTIs that patients experience in the months following their transplant.

To participate in this study, you need to be an adult who has received a kidney transplant and is receiving regular follow-up care at the New York Presbyterian - Weill Cornell Medicine Transplant Clinic. However, if you were discharged from the hospital with a catheter (a tube used to help drain urine), you won't be eligible. Participants in the study will be guided on how to practice double voiding and will be monitored to see if this technique helps lower the risk of UTIs. The trial is currently recruiting, so there is an opportunity to take part in this important research that aims to improve the health of kidney transplant patients.
