ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the presence of bacteria in the gallbladder and bile of patients who are having gallbladder surgery, known as cholecystectomy. The main goal is to find out if the common antibiotic treatment currently used is effective against the bacteria that often cause infections in people with gallbladder inflammation, a condition known as calculous cholecystitis. Researchers want to understand more about these infections so they can improve treatment options for patients.
To participate in this study, individuals must be at least 18 years old and agree to take part by signing a consent form. They should be scheduled for gallbladder surgery at the Department of Surgery, Sygehus Lillebælt, Kolding. However, there are some important exclusions: those who have taken antibiotics in the month before surgery, have had previous procedures on their bile ducts, or have been treated for gallbladder inflammation with antibiotics before will not be eligible. Participants can expect to have samples taken from their gallbladder during their surgery, which will help researchers gather valuable information. This trial is currently looking for volunteers, and it aims to enhance our understanding and treatment of gallbladder infections.
