ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a treatment for exertional heat stroke (EHS), a serious condition that can happen during sports or exercise when the body overheats. The research is specifically looking at how effective and safe it is to use ice water soaked towels to cool down the body quickly. If a person's temperature can be lowered to below 40°C within 30 minutes of feeling unwell, they have a better chance of recovering fully.
To be eligible to participate in this study, you must be at least 18 years old and receiving medical care at the City Pier City and Marathon Rotterdam 2023, with a body temperature above 38.0°C. Unfortunately, if you are not fluent in Dutch or English, you won't be able to join the study. Participants can expect to receive treatment with the ice water towels and will help researchers learn more about this potentially life-saving method of cooling.
