ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the effects of combining oropharyngeal exercises (exercises for the throat and mouth) with a mandibular advancement device (a special mouthpiece that helps keep the airway open) in adults who have obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). The goal is to see if this combined treatment can help strengthen the muscles in the throat, improve how well they work, and reduce the severity of sleep apnea symptoms, making it easier for patients to breathe during sleep.
To participate in the trial, you need to be an adult over 20 years old who currently uses a mandibular advancement device for sleep apnea. However, this study is not for everyone; individuals with a body mass index (BMI) of 35 or higher, pregnant women, and those with certain health issues like severe lung disease or serious heart problems cannot participate. If you join the trial, you can expect to engage in specific exercises designed to help improve your throat muscle strength and endurance. This research is important as it could lead to better treatment options for managing sleep apnea and improving overall sleep quality.
