ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is investigating the risk of infections that can occur after patients have their spleen removed during surgery for peritoneal cancer. The spleen helps our body fight infections, especially from certain bacteria. Patients in this study will receive vaccines and may also take antibiotics to help prevent infections, but researchers want to find out how often infections happen and how well patients follow the antibiotic guidelines.
To participate, you need to be between 18 and 80 years old and have had a splenectomy as part of your cancer treatment. If you join the study, you’ll receive regular phone calls from a nurse for five years to check in on your health and gather information. These calls will happen at specific times after your surgery, and each call will take about 20 minutes. It’s important to know that your participation is voluntary, and you can confirm your willingness to continue each time you are contacted.
