ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is exploring a dental procedure called root resection in patients with significant gum disease affecting their molars. The main aim is to see if it's possible to perform this procedure without needing to treat the tooth's nerve beforehand. The study will involve 10 patients who have been diagnosed with advanced gum disease (stage III-IV periodontitis) and have certain types of molars that are suitable for the procedure. To qualify for the trial, patients need to have had recent non-surgical gum treatment, show good oral hygiene, and have molars with roots that are far enough apart to allow for the surgery.

Participants in the trial can expect to have their tooth's health checked before the procedure and will receive local anesthesia to manage discomfort during the root resection. After the procedure, they will have follow-up visits every three months for up to three years to monitor their recovery and overall dental health. It’s important to note that not everyone will be eligible; for example, those with certain health conditions or specific tooth issues may not be able to participate. Overall, this study aims to find a safe and effective way to manage advanced gum disease in molars while preserving the tooth's vitality.
