ClinConnect Summary
The IBD Strong Peer2Peer trial is studying a new program designed to help adults with inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), like Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, manage their psychological distress. Many people with IBD experience emotional challenges, especially during times of diagnosis, flare-ups, or when transitioning to different types of care. This study aims to see if a peer-led support program, adapted from a successful children's program, can effectively provide emotional support and improve mental health for adults dealing with IBD-related stress.
To participate in this trial, you need to be an adult (18 years or older) currently experiencing a transition in your IBD journey—such as being newly diagnosed, changing medications, or facing surgery. Unfortunately, those with severe mental health issues or who do not speak English, among other criteria, may not be eligible. If you join the study, you'll receive support through a virtual peer network and help researchers learn how to make this program even better for future patients. This trial is currently recruiting participants in Nova Scotia, and it's a great opportunity to get the support you need while contributing to important research for others in similar situations.
