ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how different types of fluid treatments can help patients during longer surgeries, specifically focusing on colorectal, urologic, and gynecologic cancers, as well as some other conditions. The researchers want to see how well three different fluid options work in increasing blood volume. These options include a common saline solution and two types of albumin, which is a protein found in blood. To understand how well these fluids are expanding blood volume, the study will measure hemoglobin levels, which is a protein in red blood cells that carries oxygen.
To participate in this study, patients should be between 18 to 80 years old and scheduled for laparoscopic abdominal surgery lasting at least 90 minutes. They must also be in good health overall (categories I to III on the ASA scale, which assesses physical status) and provide written consent to join. However, those with certain health issues, like heart failure or kidney failure, or those who are pregnant, cannot participate. If eligible, participants can expect to receive one of the fluid treatments during their surgery and will help contribute to valuable information that could improve care for future patients.
