ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the way the umbilical cord coils in pregnant women, specifically looking at how this affects the health of the baby. Previous research has shown that both too few coils (hypocoiling) and too many coils (hypercoiling) can lead to problems like fetal distress and growth issues. The trial aims to use a new three-dimensional method to measure the coiling of the umbilical cord in 250 women who are at least 24 weeks pregnant. By comparing the outcomes of pregnancies with different coil patterns, the researchers hope to understand better how umbilical cord coiling impacts birth outcomes.
To participate in this study, women must have a single pregnancy that is at least 24 weeks along. Unfortunately, those with multiple pregnancies, certain complications, or who are experiencing specific issues like too much or too little amniotic fluid won't be eligible. Participants can expect to undergo new 3D imaging techniques to measure the umbilical cord, and their experiences and outcomes will be compared to help improve care for future pregnancies. The study is not yet recruiting, so interested individuals should keep an eye out for updates on when it starts.
