ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the best time to resume sexual activity after a hysterectomy, which is surgery to remove the uterus. The goal is to understand how waiting either 4 weeks or 8 weeks after surgery affects women’s sexual function, using a special questionnaire called the FSFI® that measures different aspects of sexual health. The study also looks at any complications after surgery and whether women follow the advice given about when to resume sex, as well as reasons if they don’t.
Women who are 18 years or older, speak French, are sexually active, and are scheduled for a hysterectomy due to non-cancerous conditions like fibroids, heavy bleeding, or endometriosis may be eligible to participate. Women will be randomly placed into one of two groups: advised to wait either 4 or 8 weeks before having sex again. Participants will complete questionnaires before and after surgery to help the researchers understand their sexual health and recovery. This study aims to help doctors give better advice to women after hysterectomy, so they can recover comfortably and confidently.
