ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new method called endoscopic ultrasound shear wave elastography (EUS-SWE) to see if it can effectively screen for liver fibrosis (scarring) in patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), especially those who are overweight. The researchers want to find out if EUS-SWE is more accurate than other existing non-invasive tests, like the FIB-4 score and Fibroscan, and establish proper measurements for assessing liver stiffness, which can help in grading liver fibrosis.
To participate in this trial, you need to be at least 18 years old and scheduled for a routine endoscopic ultrasound with a follow-up liver biopsy, and you should have been diagnosed with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and have a body mass index of 25 or higher. If you join the study, you will undergo the standard ultrasound test along with the EUS-SWE, which adds only a few extra minutes to the procedure and poses no additional risks or radiation exposure. The study is currently recruiting participants of all genders, so if you meet the criteria, you may have the opportunity to contribute to important research that could improve liver health assessments.
