ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at the effects of melatonin, a natural sleep aid, on managing pain and sedation in children undergoing laparoscopic surgery. The researchers want to see if giving melatonin before surgery can help reduce the amount of pain medicine, known as opioids, that these young patients need afterward. This study is currently recruiting participants aged between 2 and 10 years old, and it's open to all children regardless of gender who are classified as ASA class I or II, meaning they are generally healthy or have mild health issues.
If your child is eligible and participates in this trial, they will receive melatonin before their surgery. The goal is to see how well it helps with pain relief and relaxation during the recovery process. It’s important to know that children with certain health conditions or allergies, as well as those who have had serious complications in the past, may not be able to join the study. Overall, this research aims to improve the care and comfort of children undergoing surgery by exploring a safe and effective medication option.
