Mixed Reality Augmented Reality Medical Simulation Hololens

ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying a new way to train healthcare professionals using advanced technology called mixed reality. The goal is to see if using holograms of virtual patients can help doctors and nurses learn how to handle medical emergencies, even when they can't practice in person due to challenges like the pandemic. By using a special headset called the Microsoft Hololens, trainees will interact with these holographic patients in realistic scenarios, which could improve their training and ultimately lead to better care for real patients.

To participate in this study, volunteers need to be residents or fellows in specific medical training programs such as Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Anesthesiology, or Critical Care Medicine at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. Participants can expect to engage with the holographic training simulations, which could enhance their practical skills and teamwork. It’s important to note that those who are uncomfortable participating or already have experience with similar training on a specific condition (like anaphylaxis) won't be eligible for this trial.
