ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how physical therapy can help reduce oxidative stress in women over 40 who have knee osteoarthritis (OA), which is also known as gonarthrosis. Oxidative stress occurs when there are too many harmful molecules in the body, which can make joint pain worse. The study will involve women diagnosed with Stage II or III knee OA, as determined by a specific grading scale. If you are a woman over 40 with this condition, you might be eligible to participate, but certain health issues like recent knee surgery or uncontrolled high blood pressure would exclude you.
Participants in the study will undergo ten sessions of physical therapy that includes heat treatment, electrical stimulation, and exercises designed to strengthen the muscles around the knee. The goal is to see if these treatments can lower the levels of harmful substances in the body before and after the therapy. Blood samples will be taken to measure changes in antioxidant and oxidant levels, helping researchers understand the effects of physical therapy on knee OA. If you're interested, keep an eye out for when the study begins recruiting participants!
