ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial, called DYSPHAGING-PILOT, is focused on understanding and managing a swallowing disorder known as sarcopenic dysphagia, which often affects older adults. This condition happens when people lose muscle strength and mass, making it difficult for them to swallow. It can lead to serious health issues, such as repeated lung infections and worsening malnutrition. The trial aims to improve how we identify and support patients with this swallowing problem by testing a structured approach that includes screening, protection, confirmation, and rehabilitation.

To participate in this study, you need to be at least 70 years old, currently in a hospital or a medical facility, and able to give your consent for participation. If you join, you can expect to undergo a series of assessments designed to identify any swallowing difficulties and receive tailored interventions to help manage these issues. This study is important because it aims to raise awareness and create effective strategies to prevent complications associated with sarcopenic dysphagia in older patients, improving their overall health and quality of life.
